Membership

Gotham Tea Party was formed by volunteers. Our mission: To work to elect representatives who believe in our Founders’ timeless principles of constitutional and limited government, fiscal responsibility and free markets.

We are mindful that the upcoming 2012 election is likely to be the most significant since the founding of our republic; we consider it urgent to retire Barack Obama and get a Tea Party congress elected.

To achieve our goals, we need a large number of committed, activist members and funds to cover the cost of back office work, including computer programming and maintenance, and our communications outreach efforts.

Thus, we are launching an aggressive membership effort to:

• Expand our number of activist tea partiers dramatically; and
• Raise money for Gotham Tea Party operations and events.

There are three categories of membership: Full Member; Affiliate Member; Corresponding Member. (See below for benefits and dues information.)

Since some prospective members are concerned about opening themselves up to a hostile environment at work or in social settings, you may request to be listed in our rolls by a pseudonym. If so, please note on the application form that you are using a pseudonym (ideally a historic name). The reviewer will contact you and your real name will be listed in our records only in handwritten, non-digital form, segregated from all computerized lists. Membership dues can be paid in cash.

Note: All dues and donations will be directed toward our own costs and expenses. No monies will be given to political campaigns including those that Gotham Tea Party supports.

Full Member

Benefits: Invited to all events. 10% discount (excluding meals and beverage costs) on all entry fees. Selected discounts will be available on items for sale.

Will be solicited for opinions on policy and be entitled to vote on policy issues.

Entitled to attend and vote at the annual meeting and hold office.

Activism: In addition to working with us for the election of good candidates for public office, Full Members are asked to bring in new Full Members and Affiliate Members, with the goal of at least one new Full or Affiliate Member per month. Those who achieve the goal of recruiting ten members in a 12-month period receive a free 12-months membership for the following year.

Dues: Annually: $100.00 per person in advance; $120.00 per family. If payable monthly by credit card, dues are $10 and $12 respectively.

Student Full Membership (full-time students under age 25): $30.00 per person in advance or $5.00 monthly by credit card.

Affiliate Member

Benefits: Affiliate Members are invited to all events but are not eligible to attend the annual meetings, vote or hold office.

Activism: In addition to working with us for the election of good candidates for public office, Affiliate Members are asked to bring in new Full Members and Affiliate Members. Those who recruit five new Full Members may move up to Full Membership (payable at the Affiliate Member dues rate) or get free Affliate Membership for the following year.

Dues:  Annually: $50 per person in advance; $60 for family. If payable monthly by credit card, $5.00 or $6.00 respectively

Student Affiliate Membership (full-time students under age 25): $15 in advance; $3 monthly by credit card.

Affiliate Members may move up to Full Member status if they request it, are approved  by the Membership Screening Committee, and pay the increase in dues.

Corresponding Member

Corresponding Members include out-of-towners who may attend Gotham Tea Party events from time to time e.g., Tea Party members in other cities. They are on our e-mailing list and receive member notices.

There are no dues; donations are greatly appreciated.
